
Travelers & Thieves
Chris Scharling is a singer songwriter from New York, now living in Virginia. Influenced by artists like Neil Young, Beck, Tom Petty, and The Decemberists, Scharling has been a prolific songwriter since attending the State University of New York College at Oneonta, where he was awarded a Songwriter of the Year Award for his Dylanesque A Small Coincidence and other songs which would later form the core of his 2012 release, Travelers & Thieves.A prolific songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Scharling’s work has been featured in several short films, television series, and the Guitar Hero video game series. As a guitarist, Scharling toured briefly with Jocelyn & Chris and is featured on 30,000 Miles (Live).While not releasing music as Travelers & Thieves, Scharling makes music as one half of The Gherkins. Their first two albums, Return of the Future Dispatches on Hotel Stationery were both recorded and released in 28 days as part of the RPM Challenge. Their third record, Doctors and Other Wizards are Forbidden was released in April of 2022 on Brine Jar Records.Chris continues to play shows and record in his new home in coastal Virginia.
